Meet Emily Rudman
Ask Emily what she loves most about Pilates and she'll tell you about the bridge. "Warming up with a simple bridge, articulating up and down one vertebrae at a time — it resets my spine and kicks my core on instantly." She loves the spine stretch series for the way it moves the spine in all three planes, mobilizing it in every direction. There's a precision and intentionality to how she talks about the body that tells you everything about how she teaches.

More About Emily

Emily's 'why?'
Emily Rudman's relationship with movement started early. As a dance major in college, she was introduced to both yoga and Pilates as tools for the dancer's body — and something quietly took root.
It was motherhood, though, that brought both practices fully into her life. After her first child, she turned to Pilates to rebuild her strength. After her third — with three kids aged four and under — she found yoga. "Life was pretty crazy back then," she says. "I needed to learn some mindfulness. It really helped me become centered."
She now has four children, has been teaching Pilates for over 12 years and yoga for 7. She has also spent many years teaching dance to children. Movement, in every form, is simply who she is.
What is life like off the mat?
Off the mat, Emily finds joy in the mountains ("so vast and beautiful — it makes you feel like possibilities are endless"), in family dinners, in hikes and canasta games with friends, in dancing around the house, in watching birds from the yard. And on a good Friday night? Curled up on the couch with her husband, a good movie, and — her words — "all types of candy and popcorn."
